David Nordell was born in London, England. He graduated in civil engineering at the University of Southampton, and simultaneously served in a reserve unit of the SAS. After moving to Israel in 1980, he spent ten years as a full-time journalist, for both Israeli and foreign newspapers and magazines, and was a correspondent for Associated Press, including responsibility for coverage of the Israeli economy. He subsequently moved into consulting, for both private-sector and government clients: he was responsible for the international strategic marketing of the Israeli economy during the 1990s and was also the first professional adviser on Internet and IT infrastructure to the Israeli government. He is currently founder and CEO of New Global Markets, a technology start-up developing customer intelligence solutions for anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing, and is also an active contributor to the Terror Finance Blog. In addition, he is an expert evaluator for European Union security R&D projects and recently coordinated a proposal to the security R&D programme in the field of fighting organised crime, money laundering and terror finance.
