Itamar Marcus is counter terrorism analyst and the founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch, which studies Palestinian society from a broad range of perspectives by monitoring and analyzing the Palestinian Authority through its media and schoolbooks. Its many reports and studies on summer camps, poetry, schoolbooks, crossword puzzles, religion, women and mothers, children's video clips, and inciting children to 'Shahada" -Martyrdom', have brought the world's attention to many aspects of Palestinian society hidden from the non-Arabic speaking world.
Mr. Marcus was appointed to represent Israel in the negotiations with the Palestinians on incitement in the Trilateral Anti-Incitement Committee (Israeli-Palestinian-American).
He has lectured to world counter-terrorism experts on "Understanding the Mind of the Islamic Suicide Terrorist."
As Director of Research for the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace from 1998 to 2000, Mr. Marcus wrote reports on Palestinian Authority (PA), Syrian and Jordanian schoolbooks. In February 2007, together with Senator Hillary Clinton, he released a report on the newest PA schoolbooks at a press conference in Washington.
Mr. Marcus testified before the Education Subcommittee of the US Senate Committee on Allocations, documenting the Palestinian Authority's indoctrination of children to seek death as Shahids [martyrs] for public relations purposes. He has also presented before members of Congress, and to Members of Parliament in numerous countries including, the European Union, Britain, France, Canada, and Australia, and has lectured in universities and conferences world wide. His reports documenting that US funding in the Palestinian Authority was being used for terror promotion has led to changes in American law.
